A YORKSHIRE TRAGEDY

The Bus Stop has air conditioning! The Bus Stop has air conditioning! Now that I’ve shared the good news, you should hustle down to its cool confines to see a cracking good production of Thomas Middleton’s A Yorkshire Tragedy. Scott Mealey is riveting as the loathsome husband who transitions from a garden-variety gambler and wife-beater to a demonically possessed homicidal maniac. Sarah Vanasse is lovely as his long-suffering, angelic wife and young Aidan Mealey stands out as an actor to watch in the role of their young son. The play is staged with Vile Passeist’s trademark pared-down style, a style that sets the focus on language and great performances. This one-act is brief and bloody, a roller coaster ride into the mind of a madman. (KW)
