A Rescue Demonstration breathes life into its audience

Stewart Legere and Katie Swift mix magic, music, mystery---and sex---to create a successful rescue.

Playfully profound? Profoundly playful? No, A Rescue Demonstration is probably best described as profound AND playful. This new work by Katie Swift (above) and Stewart Legere tells the story of a nurse and a paramedic who meet at the scene of a tragedy and begin---or perhaps rekindle---an unconventional relationship. The story flits between a past, present and future where one seems able to choose what is, or what will become, real. Along the way it touches on themes such as homophobia, the fear of love and loss and the true value of self-sacrifice. This may sound deep and dark, but it is also laugh-out-loud funny. A Rescue Demonstration is a lovely mix of magic, music and mystery with the added draw of a sex scene that deserves to go down in history as one of theatre's most energetic and memorable.
