A projected graduation with a chance of success

Which industries are hiring, which you want to be a part of and where you’ll make the most bang for your buck

Nationally, most jobs are going to see an increase in position openings from 6,000 to 20,000 between now and the year 2020. Globally, these numbers are even higher, raising students' hopes that they'll leave their post-secondary institutions with high-salary positions in order to pay off their student loans. Not only that, but students are seeing progress in finding jobs in their given field and working with their degree rather than against it.

Having multiple careers in one lifetime isn't uncommon. Look forward to your graduation day, knowing that you can come out on top. Whether you're headed back for degree number three, or choosing your first, the projections for jobs requiring higher education are extremely comforting. Here are five careers that are going to have lots of openings in coming years, according to COPS (Canadian Occupational Projection System) and LinkedIn Statistics collected by Forbes.

1 Architecture and engineering These fields have always been reliable, but building is really booming now: An estimated 2 million jobs are opening up worldwide by 2020.

2 Specialized sales Looks like we can't hide in a digital world after all, because face-to-face is making a comeback. Lucky for you, because you have a face.

3 Human resources and organizational development specialists Invest your time with a company and it'll invest in you though reskilling.

4 Government relations experts For all of you familiar with that legal mumbo-jumbo.

5 Product designers Robots may take over, but you can leave the creative work to the humans.

  • Limit the number of listings one person can have
  • Charge a per-night fee that funds affordable housing
  • Limit Aribnbs to actual home-sharing only
  • Set a cap for percentage of a neighbourhood that can have Airbnbs
