Kyle has been editor of The Coast since 1993. He always knew this interconnector thing would never catch on.

Re: “COVID-19 news in Nova Scotia, for the week starting October 19

Sorry about that, Sherry. We didn't manage to post an update as quickly as the province got its map glitch sorted out—or as quickly as you noticed. Thanks for setting the record straight, and for the love.

Re: “Starting today you can apply for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit

Tracy, we have the answer to your question about the CERB being taxed as income. CRA spokesperson says yes, it is taxable. Here's his quote:

"The Canada Emergence Response Benefit (CERB) is taxable, but the tax is not taken at the source, so Canadians receive the full amount up-front. Canadians will need to report any payments received on next year's tax filing. An information slip will be made available for the 2020 tax year in My Account under Tax Information Slips (T4 and more)."

Re: “Starting today you can apply for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit

Lisa, we at The Coast got an answer to your question from Ottawa: it's 1-800-959-8281. (We added that into the story.)

Tracy, we've asked Ottawa and will let you know when we find out.

Re: “Letters to the editor, July 25, 2019

If this is a practical question: Under the News + Opinion menu, one option is "Write a Letter," which will take you to a form that leads you through it. Or just email letters[at]thecoast[dot]ca

If it's more an existential question: Ummm, I dunno. Maybe google it?

Re: “Letters to the editor, May 16, 2019

In other enviro media news, The Guardian just changed its style guide to encourage reporters to write with more urgency and precision about environmental issues. They now prefer "climate crisis" instead of "climate change," and "global heating" over "global warming." And instead of saying this letter is from a "climate skeptic," they'd use the term "climate science denier."…

Re: “HFX Wanderers unveiled as Canada’s newest professional soccer club

Thanks for pointing that out, Iain. You're right about "Calvary" being wrong, and the typo's been fixed in the story. You are the copy editing cavalry to the rescue!

Re: “Meet Halifax's biggest Trump supporter

Jennifer Lambe: Thanks for your note. That's a good catch on a point we can clarify. The reference to Hal-Con in the story now makes explicit MacLennan is a former volunteer.
