I stand in Solidarity with Transit workers. Management and the rich in our society are making out just fine in this economic crisis they created. The rest of us are subsidizing their gains. We need to stand together. I would rather our city government treat workers with a bare minimum of respect (don't ask workers to accept worse conditions at work) than blow money left, right and centre on concerts, convention centres and overpasses to nowhere. There is something very unjust in the way workers (waged and unwaged) are made to pay for the greed of a few.

Great article. The Oneill report is totally fucked and myopic. Not to mention doesn't factor in the costs of running a grant system versus the saved costs of just lower fees...

The contrast can't be more stark. The 57 million the province is looking to flush down the toilet with the new convention centre comes just one week after the O'Neill report calls on the province to deregulate tuition... Charge students more cause we are too busy giving money to dumb corporate ideas...

The NDP is selling out their base. They knew perfectly well the kind of report O'Neill would produce (shameful neo-liberal solutions). O'Neill is just cover for their future austerity cuts. In this case Howard is doing the right thing, in light of the O'Neill report this figure shows that the money is there it's just that government has F$%&ed up priorities

    Re: “Pole of confusion
You know it is not just about posters for shows. Posters are used to spread ideas to inform people about public policy, to create politcal movement. The expression is not just about free promotion it is also about political rights.

Most of us are either don't have the money or connections to advertise or spread ideas through the mainstream media. We have to create our own promotion. This means social media, word-of-mouth, fliers and posters. Lots of posters. So when I am promoting an antiwar rally or a rally against the g8 I want as many people to come out as possible. So I will put up thousands of posters if need be. This is why Adam's logic about litter and waste don't hold water for political rights. The point is to spread the word as far and wide as possible.

I wish this article didn't just talk about music and the arts communties in relation to postering. There are others who poster and will continue to poster NO MATTER WHAT for political reasons. Any poster bylaw curbs free speech and stifles our political freedoms.

    Long Live postering!!!!!
