Re: “Espresso 46

This place is technically called "Espresso 46," but most people just call it what it says on the signboard: Buongiorno Caffe or simply Federico's. The espresso is not to be believed. Federico spent six months of jangling nerves tasting and retasting until he arrived at his signature secret roast. It is prepared with love and paired with luscious little homemade delicacies from the old country.

A whole scene develops around him with professional musicians jamming, mamas and papas jawing while their children cavort, amateur photogs testing out weird cameras (there's a photography collective with a darkroom in the same building), and (during the shank end of the week) farmers and the people who buy from them--all of this in a parking lot or a garage in winter.

Come for the coffee and the scene. Come back for the love and the joie de vivre bursting forth from Federico. Every moment packs all the exuberance of Roberto Benigni bounding over chairs to accept the Oscar for Life is Beautiful.
