Re: “Honouring Halifax's African Nova Scotian matriarchs in the time of coronavirus

Wow! Ladies what a lovely event. I am happy to see it was successful. What a beautiful way to express the losses we feel in our community. The deaths of so many of our matriarchs within our community; so close together was not only sad but devastating to our young. They were our elders. They kept many of us on the right path. They gave us love , guidance and a few choice words if needed.Their doors and hearts were always open. They were mothers to everyone who was a generation or more younger than them. Elect me tell you they were also strict and of no nonsense. They only had to give us that stare which said, “now you Know , you are better than that dear”. I know death is inevitably apart of our duration on earth. However, we all in the community at the end of the day are family and yes we feel and share each other’s pain and losses. It was very difficult and almost desensitizing to know our love ones whom we respected as our Queens - we were not able to come together to mourn our great losses.
Keep up the good Ms Grey. What a fantastic idea to pay tribute to those whose backbones have strengthened and provided most of our values and morals in the community..

Re: “Halifax fires transit supervisor

Hopefully, all eyes are watching. Your place of employment could be next. Get rid of racism and treat others the way you wish to be treated.
