The province should just come up with a formula that takes into account GDP, debt/deficit/transfers/taxes, national averages etc and give every public employee (doctors, teachers, nurses, physios, police, fire , whatever) the same % raise every year. Some years it might be 0.3 , others 2.3% but just pick a % for all instead of unending negotiations with each separate group. Negotiate other conditions separately but just keep the % the same regardless of the job.
Can it please state that the government imposed the contract after the teachers rejected offers their own union recommended 3 times and then list how many of the mlas are re-elected since the silent majority of the public has had enough of unions? Maybe include the number of out of work teaching graduates, snow and PD days, poor NS student outcomes and missed student opportunities because of work to rule. That would be fun to put on the plaque too.
There have to be a lot of 30-60 year olds pressuring these kids to start hurting/pimping/dealing. There's no way there isn't an extensive organized crime network that relies on these fatherless kids to profit. I find it hard to believe teenagers will gravitate to crime unless there isn't a lot of community/peer pressure to do so. Do what it takes to put the ring leaders behind bars or watch generation after generation be used as cannon fodder for their personal profit.
How often do they cancel school when it barely/doesn't snow? All the freakin time. Kids in this province lose at least a week a year compared to their Ontario peers plus we score low nationally. Those are the things that should be concerning.
