Re: “Bilby Street’s unaffordable future

You think it's expensive now! Wait another 2 years!
Also I don't think they got rid of any dilapidated crap. Most homes in HRM are old, need work and expensive for no reason!

Re: “Halifax is not Canada’s Black Mecca

I'm surprised people don't know any of that information.
I recently moved to Toronto and people were surprised to hear about racism incident in NS!
One of the main reasons I left Halifax was because I had enough after 23 years! I figured I'd try a different city. I tried Edmonton years ago and it wasn't much better. In fact it was full of the same people!
I do agree with Tim McLay though. I feel sorry for them because they're born into it. It's the culture and what they're taught as children. For the most part. Not all are like that but sadly a large majority is. I've witnesses it first hand where parents pull their kids away in a park when new children from a different culture start playing with them.
For this to change, the culture has to change. Unfortunately I don't believe it ever will. Not because they can't, because they refuse to.

Re: “Diversity, inclusion and the Progressive Conservative Party

Hard to believe to this day and age such issues exist in the work place!

@Agra Phol, no idea what values you're referring to but sexual orientation has nothing to do with political views and policies.
When people were fighting for same sex marriage in Canada, I was confused as to why it was banned in the first place, considering Canada has removed any relation to God and religion when it comes to its policies (presuming this is the value you're referring to)!
It was hypocrisy at its finest!
Now that it's legal (piece of paper from some random person that validates a relationship), I don't see same sex marriage actually influencing your life in any way!
That said, gay and straight men can have similar and conflicting views and values.
And if they have different views, and they conflict with yours, we have a great right called "voting" that you can certainly exercise when the time comes and vote for the one the aligns with yours.

As for the whole concept that Jennifer may not win, I can see why.
To this day in Canada, we have a hierarchy of straight white man, then white man, then gay white man, then white woman, then everyone else. So Jennifer, as hard as it may be, you should probably talk to others who may give you a different perspective.
Not making light of what you have mentioned but only bringing to light a culture that has been the same since the 1800s. To make change, you'd have to change an entire culture.
How to go about doing so is where you come in. We still have people out there that believe Europeans won a war in North America, which is the reason Canada exists, and that residential schools were good for society! I don't think the delusion can get much bigger!
Some of the views I heard were just appalling, Jennifer.

Re: “No good men in this town

@learrus: Hahaha. Sorry but people don't buy art because they're cheap. Nothing to do with poor.
I entered homes of some wealthy fucks and they had next to nothing for art work. Just over-sized family pictures!

Re: “No invite

This actually depends on whether you share similar ideologies with them or not.
From the sound of it, you seem to think for yourself and form your own thought outside of the status quo. This isn't a bad thing to be honest. You're probably better off :)

Re: “Grocery cashiers' chairless tears

Actually most of the world does this, including central America and middle east. I think the chairless thing is a north american trend.

Re: “Go back west and don't come back

Seriously!
That's the best answer to that situation you could come up with?
From my understand, or so I thought anyway, we live in a civilized and developed nation.
According to what you're saying " You know the kid has to tip out, right?", I can only assume that by "tip out" you mean the server has to pay the tip they received out of pocket. Am I understanding this correctly?
If so, what's the difference between a restaurant owner and a pimp?

A second issue, why does the patron have to leave after 9 p.m.? Instead of bitching about that, shouldn't you actually question the stupid law in the first place?
The one where you can't enter an establishment that sells alcohol after a certain hour unless you're at least 19 years of age? Whatever happened to the fact that you can just sit and eat instead. Also why does this law only exist in N.S.?! This isn't a restriction anywhere else?
Also, tips should be earned, not expected. When I dine out, I usually ask if the tip is included and if it is, I take my business where it isn't.
