Sculpture suggests success

In response to Scott Smith's letter regarding the North Halifax Memorial Library's new sculpture ("Sculpture suggests failure," Letterhead, Aug. 28), I remember being very moved the first time I saw the sculpture. It represented hope for better things to come despite my misery and despair. I could visualize overcoming my oppression of the mind, of getting to the top of the mountain, of having a future again. Public art is all about personal interpretation: One person's dud can be another person's inspiration.
