Anchor Archive's away

Earlier this week, Anchor Archive Zine Library announced that they officially changed their name to Anchor Social Centre. Popular in Europe, social centres are more like community spaces, used for a wide variety of activities, and are often run in a flat, non-hierarchical way. Sounds about right---that cute red house and shed on Roberts Street houses a zine library, screenprinting studio and an active artist-residency program, among other projects. Right now, artist James Babbitt is there, continuing his research into Halifax pizza (hold the green olives, sir). Taste the cheese of Babitt’s labour at his zine launch on Saturday, June 14 at 4pm.

Of course, if you have a new fancy name, you want to dress it up with a sweet logo. Drop off your proposed Anchor Social Centre logo designs in person or email them to [email protected]. Deadline to be immortalized is June 23.
