The Cape Breton hurricane that is the 10-member Tom Fun Orchestra is causing a storm with You Will Land With a Thud, a 12-track collage of traditional roots, bluegrass, country and gypsy-rock. Electric and acoustic guitars, fiddle, trumpet, drums, mandolin, accordion, bass and piano combine with eerily raspy male vocals and enchanting female vocals to tell clever tales of love, loss and blue-collared workers. Wrap your head around “I went to the funeral for the mad hatter, they served his head on a platter,” on the track “Rum & Tequila.” Then let them blow you away this Saturday night at the Marquee.
