Daredevil: The Devil Inside & Out, Vol. 1
Ed Brubaker
Marvel
Since Frank Miller’s legendary ’80s Daredevil stories, the brooding, blind vigilante has been the hero with grit and realism—as far as it goes in tales of men in tights. Brian Michael Bendis’ run outed Matt Murdock to the public as Daredevil, but the revelation of his secret identity didn’t really go anywhere. Enter writer Ed Brubaker, who along with Greg Rucka, is responsible for injecting hard-boiled crime and espionage in superhero comics such as Gotham Central and Captain America. As seen in Michael Lark’s moody art, Murdock is incarcerated in a federal prison. Then things get really bad.
