As alarm grows over US foreign policy, culture reflects this. It certainly fires up Antibalas, the Brooklyn-based band devoted to the Afrobeat sound of the late Fela Kuti, right down to rhythmic rants, lumbering horns and freaky organ from the planet Sun Ra. For visual backup, it’s hard the beat the running man in business suit with his head wrapped in stars and stripes on the album’s cover. World events add urgency to a music already equipped to speed the pulse.
