Til The Living End
(Relapse)
In the world where punk and metal collide in an apocalyptic square-dance, there are two acts that rule the roost: The Ramones and Motorhead. Zeke, hitting Stage Nine on November 19, has done its fair share to honour them both over the years, and Til the Living End is no exception. Songs like “Long Train Running” and “Dragonfly” would make Lemmy and pals swell with fatherly pride even though the cheese-grater vocals and “Ace of Spades” chord progressions dither too close to home. But who cares. This is music that drips with spit and sweat as it claws its way to some arbitrary finish line. And we wouldn’t expect anything less from a band that named a previous album Dirty Sanchez.
