Burrito Bike

Burritos in motion

Hungering for more info about pedal-powered, yummy-food-bearing godsend the Burrito Bike? Here’s some: the Bike’s open every Saturday from 7pm-2am and if you live in the north end, it’ll bring you a handmade vegan or vegetarian burrito for $4 (delivery included). Owners Adam O’Reilly (the percussionist for Fall Horsie), and Sari Lightman (a member of Ghost Bees) are hardly newbies to the burrito-selling game---they’ve sold burritos before, in booths at various community festivals. The Bike’s meant to be “less like a late-night pizza delivery service...and more like your friend coming over and dropping off a burrito for you, because you’re hungry,” says O’Reilly. Since it requires a whole lot of pedaling to get the burritos to their hungry new owners, the Bike is mainly running in the north end, where both Lightman and O’Reilly live. But if you live slightly outside the delivery area and are jonesing for a burrito, the pair are willing to make special arrangements for you---as long as you place a larger order. For now, the Bike’s menu is going to stay burrito-based, to help keep the service accessible. In fact, Lightman and O’Reilly are so jazzed about the prospect of sustainably delivered food being affordably available that they want you to steal their idea. “I think we both hope that there are copy-catters...I wouldn’t mind if there was a Sandwich Cycle,” says O’Reilly. “Or a Wrap Walk,” offers Lightman. The Burrito Bike takes pre-orders (especially if you’re ordering in bulk). Call 454-9567 (but watch for that number to change).
