Neptune's White Christmas

New Review

Irving Berlin's White Christmas is two hours of great holiday escapism. There are no heavy messages or piercing insights in the show, and that's just fine by me. It's glittery and glitzy with catchy tunes and energetic dance numbers. The costumes are fun and fabulous and the scene changes are nothing short of miraculous given the size of the Neptune stage. The four lead actors (Robin Hutton, Laird Mackintosh, Dayna Tekatch and Stephen Patterson) are all blessed with lovely voices and charisma to spare. Janelle Hutchison gets lots of laughs as Martha Watson, an ex-entertainer with designs on a comeback, and the number "Falling Out of Love Can Be Fun," which she sings with Hutton and Tekatch is one of the best in the show. Also of note was the charming performance of nine-year-old Zoe Pace as Susan Waverly. A star is born!
