PARTY ALERT & AWARDS NIGHT


The Khyber Centre for the Arts invites you to a general meeting on Friday, September 4 (6pm, free) to fill you in on the future of the Khyber Centre. You are then warmly invited to stay for the Community BBQ and Awards (7pm to 9pm, free for members), which will showcase community leaders and organizations with a barbeque, a sundae bar, a real bar and DJs, followed by Membership Appreciation Night (9pm to 11pm). FILM 5 PROGRAM DEADLINE NOW SET

The deadline for creative team submissions to AFCOOP's professional film development program, FILM 5, has been set for Monday, October 5. The program accepts submissions from emerging directors, screenwriters and producers who will collaborate and create a short five-minute film with the mentorship and support of AFCOOP. Eight teams will be selected this year, the program's 20th year, to begin in early November. For more information, you can attend the Film 5 Information Sessions on Thursday, September 3 and Monday, September 28 (6pm, free, AFCOOP Office, 5663 Cornwallis Street, Suite 101).

POWERED UP: FREE ARTIST TALK TONIGHT @ CFAT

The Centre for Art Tapes
presents an artist talk by the participants in The PowerLines Animation Project, an 8-week animation training and mentorship program (6:30pm, 2238 Maitland Street). Tonight, Robin Badger, Tori Fleming, Lorna Kirk, Jessica Murwin and Deanna Sparks will present their short animations around the theme of 'power lines' with a final screening on September 28 (6:30pm, Halifax Central Library).
