Major metal fan and vonfrostrecords owner John Frost makes the leap from online store to irl this Saturday, June 6 with the grand opening of Forged in Vinyl. The store is Halifax's newest (and only) record store dedicated to underground and extreme metal vinyl and cassettes. Located above Pro Skateboards (6451 Quinpool Road), Saturday's launch party starts at 6pm with a show featuring Napalm Raid, Versifist and Thaumiel, it's free, all ages, with door prizes and offers a great chance to pick up some rarities, of which Frost has many. A collector since 1981, his tastes lean towards power violence, sludge and black metal. "If you want the latest Slayer or other popular metal band you won’t find it here," Frost says. "But if you're looking for amazing underground bands and labels outputs from true metal fans and supporters, look no further."

"I’m a music fan and not a business man at all, I’ve spent the last 23 years at the same job that I have grown to hate, I despise big corporations and greed," he says. "So I ended my career and decided to spend my time doing what I love."
