Linda Rand and Leeanne Carson admit they’re not the fastest out of the gate, their idea to open a consignment dress shop—East of Montreal (1474 Brenton Street, sharing a space with Eco Chic Salon)—has been brewing for about 10 years.
Formerly coworkers at All Dressed Up, the pair have about 30 years of experience between them, and know all too well that most people don’t want to drop big money for a piece they might only wear once, or not at all. Thanks to the many shoppers they met via the dress biz, East of Montreal opened in early October packed with name-brand dresses (say BCBG, Michael Kors, Alice & Olivia and Sue Wong) for all occasions— from work to play to formal events. But grade-A customer service is just as important as the top quality pieces you'll find in store. “Our objective is to be a consignment shop that offers the service of a dress house,” says Rand. “You're not going to shuffle through the racks alone here.”
