Robie Street’s source for adventures, comic book and otherwise, Quantum Frontier (3087 Robie Street) is moving an incredibly short distance in the name of a larger space. After one last Saturday in its current location (that’s this Saturday, August 16) Quantum will set up shop across the street at 3132 Robie Street, with hopes to re-open to shoppers by Wednesday. But owner Patrick McMerty has more than new product lines and bringing in work from local artists in mind—he’ll also be opening a board game cafe in the space, set to open in mid-September.

And Cafe 42 really will be the answer to everything. McMerty says the space won’t be licensed in order to make sure it’s accessible to families and under-agers, but who needs booze when you have a milkshake bar to go with your games? You can also watch for grand opening celebrations in September once finishing touches and unpacking is fully wrapped. Bonus: Quantum’s Robie Street space won’t be empty long. Its neighbour Classy Tattoo Co. (which will remain at 6100 Young Street until August 29) will be moving in, and re-opening with more room to spare in early September. Upgrades all around!
