The steamy escapades of Franklin Delano Roosevelt (America's sexiest president) come to light in the dumb little historical comedy, Hyde Park on Hudson. Kind of doing a reverse Daniel Day Lewis in Lincoln, Bill Murray barely stars as the cigarette-smoking prez who entertains the visiting King and Queen of Canada at his country estate while simultaneously becoming more and more infatuated with his fifth cousin, Margaret (a bland, unimpressive Laura Linney). Director Roger Mitchell tries altering the political historical drama into a raunchy sex comedy, and while an admirably bold effort, the finished picture is a mess. A countryside car ride where boorish Linney offers a helping hand to her cousin (you know what I mean) will satisfy any long-in-drought FDR fetishists out there, but otherwise Hyde Park has nothing to show for itself.
