Songs for the big screen

The Atlantic Film Festival’s Music & Image conference showcases home grown talent, worthy of a spot on the silver screen.

Songs for the big screen
Hostess with the mostest, Rose Cousins.

A well-placed song in a movie can make even the credits interesting. Music on it's own is a powerful thing and when it's paired with an image it's possible to pack even more heat. Driven by that killer pairing is Music & Image, a conference that partners with the Film Fest to showcase some of our local talent, with hopes their songs getting picked up by bigwigs in the TV, film, advertising or even gaming industry. In the eight years that M&A has been at it they've seeing over 150 placements (like, Meaghan Smith in Grey's Anatomy). While this week sees a whack of shows aimed at delegates, this one's very open to the public. The effervescent Rose Cousins will lead this troupe of troubadours in sharing songs, and their stories, with film goers, music lovers and even you couch potatoes. --Allison Saunders
