Malevolent supernatural entities get a suitable vessel for their evil, household mould and mildew, in the eerily stupid The Apparition. Young homeowners in a newly built subdivision, Kelly (Twilight's Ashley Greene) and Ben (Captain America's Sebastian Stan) unknowingly become the target of one of those evil phantoms college kids are always conjuring up. This particular paranormal activity mainly manifests in rotten floor boards before ramping up to opening doors when no one's around. But easily the scariest part of The Apparition is how an 82-minute film can pad its running time out with such repetitive monotony. Even in a pretty crowded field these days of sexy people in haunted houses, this is bottom-barrel stuff. That said, special credit should be given to any film bold enough to spoil its ending on its own theatrical poster.
