Best Dressed Male

Bill Niven

Oh you’ve got your eye on Bill Niven, all right. The inaugural best dressed male honours go to this serious east coast film scenester (founder of Halifax-based Idlewild Films, co-producer of Marion Bridge, executive producer of Touch and Go; co-chair Atlantic Film Fest, vice-chair Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television) who thinks of his style as eclectic, fond as he is of all things black and green and, well, classic. And while for the most part he tries to buy locally, this frequent flyer is by no means immune to the lure of the big city shop. Now pay attention, boys, Bill’s got a few secrets to share: “I try not to impulse buy. When I find something I love, I look around a little more. I don’t need to be wearing the newest style—finding the right texture and fabric and colour is just as important.”

Runner-up: Mayor Peter Kelly
