At the New Palace on a warm Friday night, both inside the bar and all along the line-ups, there’s a gladiatorial air, a heady haze of booze, sweat, young hormones, and the anticipation of getting, one way or another, pounded. To quote the Red Hot Chili Peppers, it’s blood sugar sex magik.
