Argyle Fine Art's found an interesting angle to approach next week's Titanic anniversary from: fashion, baby. If you dig through the gallery's steam trunk you'll find assortment of locally made paper dolls donning duds from the ill-fated liner's era of the early 1900s. "I've always had a real soft spot for paper dolls, I played with them as a kid and I guess for me they do make me nostalgic for my childhood when things were a little simpler," says artist Bryanna Chapeskie, one of Paper Threads' doll designers who welcomed the chance to create her own line of paper people. "As I began researching into that era I found that the most fascinating accessories were the hats. They were huge and dramatic!" Chapeskie's lovely ladies sporting massive hats will join the work of Mary Garoutte, Carolyn Beesley, Mary Ann Archibald and more. This show can provide a history lesson, vintage shopping inspiration and childhood nostalgia---plus a portion of sales will benefit the Local Council for Women.
