I hated Halifax before meeting you. But within a week of our winter wonderland affair I was in love—with the city—and finally with life; even though we didn’t fall in love like that. You had endless patience with me. And we had local beer and music and star-gazing on Citadel with the frosty ground beneath us. But, it was all too much for me. And I broke, and went away without saying goodbye. I’m a South End gal and you’re a North End boy, and that is the way it will always be. That was 2 years ago. After a triumphant return I came back and still loved Haligonia just as much. Now, I have officially left for good to further my career - and I am still in love with Halifax, its people, its culture(s) and its sweet awkward ways. It’s because of you I found my second home. It is because of you I have the bittersweet ability to wholly miss Halifax each and every day. And I do miss it, I do, so much. —Northern Belle
