Bronze Winner Reeny Smith

“It’s sort of scary because it’s all on you—like, if people don’t like it it’s because I suck. But, on the other hand, it’s nice to have all that creative control: My vision and whatever I want it to be,” says Mo Kenney of the two sides of being a solo artist. “But I’m lucky because I have Joel Plaskett who can check out all my demos,” she adds with a laugh. The singer-songwriter spent most of 2019 touring, cracking into the American market. “I’m not sure what makes me stand out, but I know that since I started playing music I’ve felt support in Halifax and Dartmouth.”
