Walking by the boarded up and relocated Morris building the past few weeks, you may have noticed artists Sarah Haydon Roy and Charley Young tacking sheer white fabric onto its sides and frottaging the building's facade; the two have been working on their Nocturne project, Carbon Copy: The Charles Morris Building. "Both Charley and I have a deep interest in historic properties," says Haydon Roy. "Unfortunately, there's a lot of historical properties being demolished, or proposed for demolition, so we have a lot to choose from." Last year's all-night art event saw the two resurrecting the Kelly building (demolished in 2005) with the same sheer white fabric technique, and Haydon Roy says she and Young chose the Morris building this year because of its unique, continued existence---a factor that's allowing the two to get into the building to get imprints of the interior. Haydon Roy and Young plan on installing the ghost form of the Morris building on a scaffolding set next to the original, with doorways, a floor plan, light installation and a white painted desk and chair "partly to represent that it was an office building at first, but also to represent all the people that have been in there."
