Andy Fillmore was too busy meeting with Irving Shipyard workers to get back to us about his repeat win for Best Member of Parliament, but it’s understandable. Right now, he has a lot on his plate. Unionized shipbuilders and the Irvings are striking out against talk that the federal government will break up expensive frigate maintenance contracts between Halifax and Quebec. Fillmore has also faced questions about the Liberal government’s decision to reject a funding request made by the Port of Halifax for its expansion plans. Neither issue has broken Fillmore’s streak as best MP, though. Time will tell if next year’s federal election will do it for him.
