While we're on the subject of the new route #4, I decided to reserve judgement when it was announced. However, the verdict is in. It sucks. Why does a bus that's heading from Dalhousie to Lacewood head in the wrong direction and take a detour to SMU and Spring Garden Road? I thought the goal of the redesign was to straighten out the routes and make them more sensible? Wouldn't it make more sense to start the route at SMU, head down Robie to Dal, then head straight to Lacewood? It is the university bus right? It's not the "loop-di-loop and lets pick up a bunch of drunks late at night on Spring Garden route" is it? How does a 10-15 minute detour to SMU and Spring Garden (depending on traffic) make my route better?
I like the extended hours and being able to catch the bus at the SUB at Dalhousie rather than that sketchy bus stop on Robie and South streets, but every other thing about this route is awful and results in a net loss. Every time the bus turns right onto Robie at Robie & South instead of left a little part of me dies inside and another 15 minutes of life is taken away from me.
Figure this out Halifax Transit. Figure it out.
