2. Watch chef Lauren Marshall cook brunch
Lauren Marshall was a Top Chef Canada competitor, has worked in kitchens worldwide and now owns Real Fake Meats here in Halifax. Together with Doyle, who co-owns Springhouse, and Kirsten Costello of Wild Leek, she’ll be demonstrating how to make “chicken” and waffles, vegan quiche and chia parfait.
3. Learn about animal rights law from Camille Labchuk
The executive director of Animal Justice, Canada’s only animal law organization, has worked on exposing animal suffering across several industries. She’ll be giving a talk about the rise of animal rights law in Canada.
4. Support Feed Nova Scotia
Bring a spare can of lentils if you’ve got one; VegFest will be collecting vegan and plant-based food items to donate to Feed Nova Scotia.
