Olympic bar run

While surfing channels isn't an Olympic sport, cheering our athletes on is highly commendable. Get out and compete.

Elephant & Castle

General manager Jennifer Halpin has extended Elephant & Castle's happy hour for the Olympic run---what normally ended at 7pm now goes to close. So park yourself in front of E&C's four flatscreen TVs to watch the games and munch away. Canadian flags dot the bar for those of you concerned with patriotic decor.

Oasis Pub & Eatery

All hail the sports-watching haven: The Oasis' jumbo projector and seven big screen TVs will broadcast every Canadian hockey game this week, no matter how far we get. And if Canada loses the night's match against Russia, there's always the karaoke machine to drown your sorrows.

5675 Spring Garden Road, 422-2227

Darrell's Restaurant

The south end burger joint that boasts peanut butter burgers and thicker-than-cement (in a good way) milkshakes invites you to watch any gold medal games on the upstairs big screen if you're eating with the family, or the one downstairs if you want to get all sports bar about it.

5576 Fenwick Street, 492-2349

Porter's Steakhouse & Sports Bar

This Dartmouth eatery has 52-inch flatscreen TVs with HD on which to watch the Olympics' last hockey moments. You can also get half-price appetizers Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9pm to close, and all day Sunday (to keep you gold-medal strong).
