Fringe review: Vern & Gregory, guaranteed to make you laugh

Experience the lighter side of the fringe.

The fringe festival can be pretty intense. A lot of shows explore heavy themes, and even though the pain of life is usually served up with a dose of humour, some nights I leave thinking, “So, life’s a bitch and then you die.” Which is what made Jamie Bradley and Scott Owen’s Vern & Gregory! The Show No One wanted Them to Give! a welcome change. Anyone who watches Who’s Line is it Anyway? will be familiar with the Improv games that are woven into a storyline that has two old Vegas performers reuniting for one last show. The audience has the chance to participate, either by shouting out ideas or by being hauled up on stage, and as many laughs come from watching the clueless participants as from the ones who really get into the act. They say laughter is good medicine, and this show provides the perfect dose.
