Ex-pat superstars Denial Tone return

Halifax heroes move to Montreal and make a great band, return to Halifax and burn the city to the ground.

A group of Halifax heroes move to Montreal and make a great band, return to Halifax and burn the city to the ground. This should be how all fairytales begin. Denial Tone are Meghan Merrigan (Gilbert Switzer, ROT), Eben Hicks (Be Bad, System Shit), Yan Basque (Racine) and Crystal McNorton (Trouble Rocket). They play August 7 at Gus' Pub (with ECT, Dead Pinkertons and The Ether), also their Halifax release for their new cassette, Playback's a Bitch. Merrigan explains the band's productivity: "It's sort of been like moving in with a guy you've only been dating for three months---you're so hot into it, everything is new and exciting that you throw all caution to the wind and dive blindly into the future." What is waiting for them there? My guess would be rabid fans and earplugs. "I think if there is a band philosophy, it is to let the songs and their performance speak for themselves," says Hicks. "Loudly."
