Tired of living in a deathtrap because I have a dog.

I'm starting my apartment search many months early. Because my landlord is sketchy and incapable of doing his job, there are rats living in my ceiling and I'm pretty sure it's an illegal apartment.

So why am I living here in the first place?

Because I have a dog and it seems like the only way to have a dog in this city is to make over $40,000 a year, so you can afford the apartments that let dogs in. Or just subject yourself to subpar living conditions.

My dog is well behaved, well trained and a way better tenant than my cats. And yet, cats are allowed almost everywhere, it seems.

So, I don't know what I'm going to do. Stay another year in this place, god willing the ceiling doesn't cave in on me first or maybe become a high class call girl so I can make the money that allows me to live in semi-comfort with my dog.
