Christina Martin, “Two Hearts”

Christina Martin had chests a’thumping with Two Hearts, the album which won her two Music Nova Scotia Awards and an ECMA for pop solo recording of the year. Martin describes the title track “Two Hearts” as “sad yet hopeful. The song represents a strong desire to love and be loved...a belief that even if shit happens to threaten love, the desire still remains, and therefore hope for love.” When she wasn’t busting blood-pumping organs, Martin was busy playing around town and across the country, sharing the stage with Matt Mays & El Torpedo and being featured on CBC specials, like her memorable DNTO cover of “Snowbird,” with an all-star cast of Charles Austin, Dave Marsh, Mike O’Neill and Laura Peek.

First runner up: Matt Mays, “Tall Trees”
Second runner up: Joe Buck, “No More”
