Best Artist / Band Most Likely To Make It Big

Dog Day

Your vote for Band Most Likely To Make It Big (and runner-up for Best Band, among others), knows how to make big power-pop sounds, and they have some huge friends, too. “It was great to tour and hang out with Eric’s Trip last summer,” says vocalist/guitarist Seth Smith. “Bumming around with them at the Sub Pop 20th anniversary party, meeting grunge celebrities.” In fact, Rick White is currently recording two new tracks for a upcoming Dog Day seven-inch platter. And Dog Day’s upcoming full-length, Concentration, was mixed with John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.) in New Jersey. “It was a really fun experience, too.” Smith says that the band’s fresh new album “turned out kinda watery and dreamy. I would say it’s a little more patient than Night Group. A little more exploratory with sounds and structures. There were a few things we wanted to try that didn’t really fit last time.” The sound may more be patient, but we’re impatiently and excitedly waiting for Concentration, which is due out sometime in late April.
