Last year’s retirement of The Great Wall into the Hall of Fame made way for Jean’s Chinese Restaurant—which was long on its tail—to take over the top spot in this category. And owner Kong On Jean is pumped about it. “We have been working really hard and we have 15-year history in downtown,” he says, crediting the restaurant’s top-notch service and flavour for setting it apart from the pack. “There’s something different. I’ve been in Canada for 31 years already and I know what Canadian people like. A lot of Chinese restaurants don’t use the best quality ingredients, but we do no matter the price.” He adds a massive thank you, and a promise: “I’ll try to keep doing my best.”
