I had the pleasure of working with Jenna Mooers at the Griffintown Cafe in Montreal where we had a magical combination of young entrepreneurs, local musicians, food and wine nerds, very enthusiastic serving staff, and a smokehouse in the back. We were known for waitresses and chefs getting on stage with the band and wowing diners with our multiple talents. In the beginning, we used to pull tables and chairs up from downstairs in the middle of the rush. It was like a team sport for us! Especially brunch, from which I have very fond memories of blinking at each other in wide-eyed shell-shock over ciders and cold eggs benedict after beating our sales record every other Sunday. Jenna was definitely a quarterback as manager. She is an amazing person who blends her selfless big heart with a very practical work ethic. There was a lot of talent and heart in that place, but Jenna was always the solid rock with the common sense, diligence, and restaurant genius to hold everything together. Anything she touches turns to gold. Miss you, Jenna!

You said you wait 3 months before reviewing a restaurant. Its seems that until today, I don't remember seeing an actual restaurant review for EDNA, 2 Doors Down or Que Tal in The Coast. Checked archives as well. Hopefully new places will get a full review rather than a lot of the crappy places that do get reviewed.

It look a couple years to get the burger and fries just right, but one unsung burger in town is from Brussels. Main characteristics are smoked gouda, aioli and caramelized onion. Great stuff, definitely in my top 10 burgers. P.S. Why did I keep going back like an idiot? I work around the corner.

The reviews of Relish are enough to keep me away, both about the menu and the vibe.

I'm not going to drive over to somewhere in Dartmouth to wait 45 minutes.

Ate at Gus's last week and it was perfect.
