Re: “Almonak opens at Almon and Isleville

Wow this sounds great! I walked by with my friend just the other day and said, "I hope this resto will be welcoming to all the different types of folks in the neighbourhood and wouldn't it be great if it was also a place where I could come sit with my laptop? - Bingo!!"

Re: “The Dome turns 30 years old next week

Wow great memories. As a sailor in the British Royal Navy in the 80s the Oregano was always the starting point for a run ashore. Great Pizza and a few beers before trying every cocktail The Apartment had on their board before ending the night at The Office (with a few more visits to bars in between but I forgot their names!). Great memories of Halifax NS l, one of my favourite runs ashore.

Re: “Garrison Brewing announces The Oxford Taproom

A tap house next to a grade school area... Wouldn't a regular theatre & community centre make more sense? Either way, boo creepy foot doctor, hooray beer! (A great business decision, it just comes across as poor community planning...) Go Quinpool.

Re: “Garrison Brewing announces The Oxford Taproom

Beer and snacks .... if only there was some kind of movie-like entertainment to round it out. Hmmmmm

Re: “The Dome turns 30 years old next week

I remember visiting in the mid-80s, My Apartment every time my US Coast Guard ship would pull into Halifax. It on the top of the list for many of my crew because it was a great place to get food and drink in the afternoon. It was relaxing. At night, the place was a different story!

Re: “Good Parma rises to the top(ping)

This stuff is awesome! Easily the best vegan parmesan I've tried, and a bottle lasts me for quite a while! I couldn't imagine eating spaghetti without it.

Re: “Candy review: Halloween Kisses

As someone who just ate whole bag in less than 24hrs I have to disagree with this opinion. I'm old though so that could be it.

Re: “A letter to Sam Austin, about downtown Dartmouth

It is best to leave the clever analogies to the clever people. Some writers have very limited writing and comprehension skills, which appears to have been the case here.

Re: “Cafe Lara is moving in on the corner of Agricola and Woodill

Agricola is the most boring white people street ever.

Re: “enVie's Lauren Marshall is vying for Top Chef Canada

All the rave reviews on Lauren Marshall's skills as a passionate, knowledgeable healthy chef are not an exaggeration. She has unique and original recipes and cooks with a flair with health in mind. She not only cooks but shares her knowledge of healthy cooking in healthy living retreats, cooking classes at the Superstores, and also teaches healthy cooking at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, among many other things, like starting her own business, Real Fake Meat, where she offers a pantry box of delicious flavourful assorted foods resembling meat and cheese, without the meat and dairy. We are so lucky to have Lauren expanding the plant-based cuisine in the Halifax area and beyond. Kudos to Lauren!

Re: “Bite-Sized Kitchen teaches big lessons to tiny chefs

Hats off to Claire Gallant for tackling the issue of kids in the kitchen. As parents, we know it's always easier to do it yourself, kids just make a big mess, etc. But - they might as well learn to cook when it interests them! Why wait until their interest has moved on to other things? It takes longer, but in the long run, you'll get competent cooks out of it. And it just might make them more tolerant of different foods and taste combinations.

Re: “Drink this: North Brewing's Twinkle Pony cookie stout

Well that covers the Tween crowd, but what about baby beer? Brewed from used pacifiers, breast milk and Heinz Barley Cereal...

And us old guys? Cialis beer (because Cialis lasts 2 days)...
