Re: “Mix master

This guy makes, in my humble opinion, the best drinks in town. I'm so pleased to see him getting the recognition he deserves.

Re: “Getting home

you could also bribe a friend who isn't going out 50 bucks to pick you up when you call em... easy peasy.

Re: “The wine province

Supporting the local industry (of any industry) is nice, But if we're paying 12 bucks for a French wine that costs 6 bucks in france, why should I be expected to pay 12 bucks for a wine made 1.5 hours away? In france and germany there are wineries that never ship outside of their region, they produce enough to serve the locals and they do pretty good off of that and a bottle of wine is like a bottle of perrier. Maybe the local producers should stop thinking they're in Sideways and take it down a notch and be happy to supply the locals. Once interprovincial private liquor sales become a fact of life they're gonna be screwed competing with Niagara and BC wines. Just sayin'

Re: “The wine province

Concerned citizen: try Gaspereau's Muscat...my favourite NS white by far

Sodeypop: Why does NS wine have to be cheaper than the imports for you to drink it? Personally I'm always willing to pay more for local and support my fellow Nova Scotians.

Re: “The wine province

Actually the pricing is indeed the decision of the local producers. The issue is that their costs are very high due to small production volumes.

Re: “The wine province

Nothing against Nova Scotian wines, but maybe if they didn't cost the exact same as Californian, Australian, Italian wines people would buy more. Not so much the fault of the wine producers, but more the fault of Marxists that rule our province.

Re: “The wine province

Maybe its my taste that makes me an idiot...but I don't like sparkling wines !
Not even a little bit.
But several of the wines they mention are not sparkling wine & those I'll try.
I've already tried Avondale Sky ,2010 Tidal Bay. It is a very nice dry white wine.
I'm definately going to see if the Jost vineyards Gris...for 9.99 sounds to good to be true, but at 10 bucks a bottle how can you go wrong ?

Re: “The wine province

Give me a dry white that doesn't resemble a Reisling, and I'll be happy.

Re: “The wine province

I like the title of the article. So many idiots out there who pretend to know something about wine, but when asked about NS wines, prove beyond a doubt that they know dick all.

Re: “Barchaeology

WTF is a mural doing in with taxidermy? You evidently didn't talk to mural artist. Facts are ALL wrong! When I was a journalism student, confirmation was kind of a BIG thing!

Re: “Barchaeology

Interesting story Mr. Bousquet. Is it just me, or does it seem like the Coast puts on a big liquor push during frosh week each and every year? How about a story about the consequences of heavy drinking, both short and long term?

My advice to students: Don't go to any of the above mentioned absolutely terrible bars.
