Looking for something to add to your summer bucket list? This year, Nova Scotia was chosen to host the 2022 ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships. It isn't very often that we get the chance to experience an Olympic-level championship with our own eyes, let alone in our own backyard. This edition of the annual event is shaping up to be one of the best yet, with over 1,000 athletes, a large spectator venue and an accompanying festival.

What is it?
Canoe ’22 is a sports competition involving over 1,000 athletes from 70 countries. The program includes both women’s and men’s canoe and kayak races, with 32 events in total. For non-sports lovers, or if you’re just taking a break from the main events, Canoe ’22 also has a festival with food and market vendors, a kids’ zone and free musical performances each evening.
Where is it held?
This year’s world championships are being held in Dartmouth at Lake Banook. Spectator seating areas are located on Silvers Hill, Prince Albert Road and for those 19+, the festival's beer garden.
How long has it been going?
The Canoe Sprint World Championships started back in 1970 and takes place every year, excluding years the summer Olympics are happening.
Where do I get tickets?
There are no tickets. Spectating at Canoe ’22 is free along with its nightly musical performances. Access to its vendor market and kids zone is also complimentary.
