There are three Long & McQuade stores in the municipality, and all of them are working hard to be the best. “Bedford and Dartmouth both recently renovated,” says Halifax store manager John Parker. “At some point they might eat my lunch.” But with this latest gold win, Parker and the Halifax location are safe for another year. He chalks up the store’s popularity to the wide-ranging music scene on the peninsula, from the symphony to rock clubs. “Our location is closer to all that,” Parker says, so it has to be ready to supply the needs of all those musicians. “Being a full-service shop is a big responsibility we take seriously.”
