Seasons change and with them so does the menu at downtown Dartmouth’s family-run family restaurant, The Canteen. That’s because pretty much everything is laced together with something grown, caught, brewed or butchered here at home. Each dish is a sum of its parts, and each part is carefully considered with local farmers and fishers on chef Reneé Lavallée’s mind. Case in point: Last week Taste of Nova Scotia dubbed Lavallée 2018’s culinary ambassador, meaning she “eats, drinks, sleeps and breathes Nova Scotia.” You and eat and drink it too at The Canteen.
