The long-running Monday night full-band open mic continues to support, incubate and nourish the scene, and its efforts continue to be noticed, even beyond the Scene Builder Award it was given by the Halifax Pop Explosion Association in 2015. “The biggest highlight for me this year is that there just seems to be so many new bands in Halifax,” says Rockin’s Craig Hamlin. “I’m not sure if I’ve encountered a time where I have seen more bands starting up in town.” R4D is a great place for bands, new and old, to practice performing, try new things and maybe even win some cash. “It’s pretty amazing,” says Hamlin, “that so many people considered us when selecting their vote.”
