Four years ago Noah Connolly was in grade 11 and his family was just launching its bright red doughnut-slinging school bus. Now he’s in university, Ol’ School has expanded its fleet and, for the cherry on the doughnut, it has won itself Best Food Truck top honours. Thanks to striking a balance between trendy and nostalgic, Connolly says the business continues to grow thanks to the focus on quality and the customer experience. “I couldn’t do it without my family first of all. My mom does a lot, this has kind of taken over our life,” he says on a break between classes. “It has it’s ups and downs. You know they say work sometimes follows you home—but it’s literally home for us.”
