Gold Winner Public Gardens
Silver Winner Halifax Central Library
Bronze Winner Point Pleasant Park
There’s no irony to the Public Gardens. For all the problematic Victorian era heritage and the hubris of a cultivated garden plonked down unnaturally into a city’s centre, the gated space really is a pristine gem to Halifax’s city life. It’s a small, peaceful retreat from the construction work and towering mega-dicks being erected throughout the city. Escape from those bold, bad decisions and stroll through the gardens on a sunny summer day, watching the waterfowl and wedding parties saunter by. It makes one long for a simpler time. Just stay off the grass.
