The small storefront on lower Barrington Street beckons, its soft colouring evocative of all the mellow buttercream goodness awaiting inside. Shelves on the walls are loaded with impressive, architectural wedding cakes, but everyone knows it’s the bite-sized pleasures that really bring you in. And then, you seem them: Pastry cases lined with vintage, milk-glass tiered trays offering everything from traditional carrot cake cupcakes to quirkier choices like chocolate caramel popcorn or candied apple peanut butter or pumpkin pecan trifle. Choosing one (or rather, just one) will be the toughest decision of the day, perhaps, but also the sweetest.
